      <description>&lt;br/&gt;The Torrent sank in 1868. She’s Alaska’s oldest known American shipwreck. She struck a reef on July 15th and went to the bottom in a few chaotic days. Luckily, there was no loss of life. More than 150 women, children and men made it safely to shore at Port Graham.
