Ken Koga - Moriuchi,
Videographer & Diver
Ken Koga-Moriuchi is a deep sea diving
instructor and educator. When he isn’t
diving or filming he’s working with school
administrators and teachers to improve education.
As a world traveler he likes to see new places
and meet new people. Lately, he seems to be
heading towards destinations that are very cold...
like the icebergs of Resolute Bay, Canada and the
frigid waters of Alaska. Click Ken’s picture
to see an iceberg movie with Wild Blue kids!
Ken lives in New York City and can often be seen
walking his little dog, Schnoppy around Central
Park. He also cares for stray amphibians. His
favorite “phibs” are Rocky, a fifteen-year old African
clawed frog and a tiny salamander named “Sammy Lam Yuen”.

Ursa Lively, Firefighter, Paramedic & Diver
Ursa is a captain, firefighter and paramedic in the city of Anchorage. She’s also an equestrian, logger, boater and world-class diver. She joined Team Torrent in summer 2007’ and added much needed logistical and dive support. Ursa is always happiest underwater and is always keen to try out newfangled devices like underwater sleds and electronic scooters. She’s also our main underwater model during the 2007/08 Torrent discovery dives. See her on Youtube using some specialized gear. Vrooom!
Nicholas Teasdale,
Underwater Photographer & Geologist
Nick is from Canada and lives in Peru. He’s a geologist who specializes in extracting rare metals from the earth. He really knows his business - he found a gold vein in the Andes!
In addition to hunting rare metals, Nick is a traveler, photographer and expert diver. He is also a dad to two lovely girls, Emilie and Domino. An avid boater and outdoorsman he brings his geological and scientific skills to Team Torrent’s many underwater surveys. His uncanny sense of direction, knowledge of topography and expertise with high tech tools serves the mission well during our wreck hunt & seek forays.
Andrey Nikolaev, Project Manager, Architect, Diver and Videographer
Andrey joined Team Torrent this summer! He’s a long-time Alaskan tech diver and multi-talented architect/engineer and mechanic. Give him any broken gas-powered engine and it’ll be fixed with minutes...if he has parts. His design, diving and multimedia talents were put to great use during this expedition.
Additionally, his physical strength was often put to use...like one-arming a 200 pound lift bag filled with water! You’ll see some of Andrey’s movies soon and we wish him well on his travels in Russia!

Steve Lloyd, Expedition Leader
When he was a kid in elementary school, Steve Lloyd realized that the entire world was within reach, as close as the nearest book! He now owns Title Wave Books, Alaska's largest bookstore, and gets to be around books all the time. Steve has led expeditions which have resulted in the discovery of four historic shipwrecks off Alaskan. He wrote his own book about one of them, the "Farallon" steamship that sunk in 1910 and stranded all 38 passengers and crew on the snowbound coast in the middle of an Alaskan winter. Steve still loves to read, and he enjoys scuba diving, fishing and working on his custom-fitted dive boat, "Obtainium".
